Photographer Gary
L Howe lives in
Traverse City, Michigan and dreams of the South Coast
of Tasmania.
Howe has what many consider to be the
cutest beagle they've ever seen. Her name is Lima,

In recent years he has made trips to
Chiapas, Mexico , Bolivia, Rwanda and Colombia to document coffee producers
selling to Fair Trade importers. He has made these trips
in association with Higher Grounds Trading Co. He plans
on continuing this project, and expanding it to cover
other coffee growing regions including Ethiopia
and Sumatra.

In 2005 Gary
Howe attended the Mountain Workshops. Since
this experience he has been moving his images into storytelling,
and "looking for the story behind the story".
In addition to photography, he teaches
part-time in the Social Science Department at Northwestern
Michigan College-currently teaching World Regional
Geography.
He has a graduate certificate from
the Hopkins-Nanjing
Center for Chinese and American
Studies and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese. Currently
he is battling the Spanish language. He has a bachelors
degree in International Studies from Northern Michigan
University.
